Named Wish and created by artist Robert Buchholz, these huge metal, wood and fiberglass “dandelions” made their debut at Burning Man 2010. They reappeared a few weeks ago at Coachella 2011, this time with color-changing LED lights on board. Standing 50 feet tall, Wish served a few important purposes at Coachella. Besides inherent wow-factor and shade during the day, the sculpture also acted as a landmark, becoming an important meeting point for lost and wandering concertgoers. The piece was even more visible (and stunning) at night, when illumination from LED lights made it to look like something out of Alice in Wonderland.
